DEEP PURPLE Drummer Launches New Signature Pearl Kit (Video)
May 2, 2012DrumWright and Pearl Drums unveiled twelve limited-edition Ian Paice (DEEP PURPLE) signature kits at DrumWright in Berkshire, England on April 23. Ian personally demonstrated the kit at the launch, which was timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of DEEP PURPLE's iconic "Machine Head" album.
Each drum kit has nine drums, comprising Masters Premium Legend Maple Toms and Bass Drum and the Ian Paice Signature Snare Drum. The three colours are Piano Black, Silver Sparkle and White Marine Pearl. There will be four kits in each colour.
Some of the drum sizes are unique to Ian's kit, and in the same way as Pearl made them specially for him, they have made them again exclusively for this limited-edition run of 12 kits. You cannot get this exact specification of kit anywhere else in the world, and once the 12 have gone, that is it. There will be no repeat production.
As well as a standard front head, the kits come supplied with a specially designed front bass drum head which could be fitted to the kit or mounted to the wall as a souvenir.
Each one of the drum kits comes with a head signed personally by Ian, dedicated to the individual customer and a limited-edition certificate of authenticity, again signed by Ian. All drums also have a unique motif inside specifying that the kits are a limited edition. Each kit comes tuned to Ian's personal specification.
Commenting on the kits, Paice said: "When you are lucky enough to play the best, it’s nice to know other people can experience the same perfection."
DrumWright managing director Chris Wright added: "We are very excited about this unique opportunity. We have developed a close working relationship with Ian over the past 15 years. In my view, he is the U.K.’s finest rock drummer, an inspiration to others, and a pleasure to work with."
The twelve customers who buy one of these sets will also be invited to a private dinner with Paice, hosted by celebrity chef Paul Clerehugh at his Oxfordshire restaurant The Crooked Billet.
